Today I updated our noticeboard to kick off another unit we link in with our home room teachers: Long Long Ago. It is a unit that our grade 2 students are following at the moment. Students are looking at how the past is different from today. As PE teachers we make the link to how games in the past vary from the games that are played now especially on the playground. Our noticeboard is updated with games from the 'past' making me feel very old as these are the games I used to play! It is strange to see that students play so little with hoops, jump ropes and elastic ropes. We used to play various clap games, ball bouncing games etc, you know what I mean. In a week or two will we give them a lesson on how to play these games together with a small box of supplies so they can continue to play the games on the playground by themselves. (at least that is our goal....!) Material is available (downloadable) at our resources page! |
